Auckland Airport is around 15 kilometres away from the city centre. It is located near the suburb of Mangere and Airport Oaks. The airport serves as your gateway to North Island’s major attractions including popular day trip destinations Waiheke Island and The Hobbiton. You can easily jump in your campervan and go on an epic adventure.
There are two terminals at Auckland Airport: the international and domestic terminals are approximately 500 metres apart. These terminals are connected by a walkway but you can also take the free shuttle bus to get from one terminal to the other. The international terminal is open 24/7 while the domestic terminal is only open from 4:30 am until 11 pm from Monday to Friday and from 5 am until 11 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

You need to be at least 21 years old to hire a campervan at Auckland Airport, but there are some companies that rent to drivers as young as 18.
Most campervan rental companies offer free shuttle service to and from the airport. Make sure to coordinate with them your arrival time so they can pick you up and bring you to their depot where you can collect your campervan. Take note that this can only be done during business hours.
