The amount of the security bond levied by Alamo may vary depending on your means of payment and type of vehicle. Once you have returned your rental vehicle, subject to any additional charges, your security deposit will be released. The refund usually takes two to ten days, but can take up to 28 days, and the amount of time required for this depends on your bank. For more details, please see the “Important Information” section for details specific to your rental vehicle, or contact our customer care team for assistance.
Alamo’s minimum age requirement for rental car drivers is 21, although drivers under the age of 25 may incur a Young Driver Surcharge. This under 25 fee is a daily surcharge charged on a per-driver per-day basis for the full period of the rental. Drivers under the age of 25 may be restricted to certain vehicle types. To learn more, including the amount of the charge for drivers under the age of 25, please see the “Important Information” section for details specific to your rental vehicle, or contact our customer care team for assistance.

Yes. Basic cover is included in the rental quote, but should the vehicle be stolen or damaged in an accident, or a third-party loss occurs, you’ll be liable to pay up to the Rental Vehicle Excess amount as per your Alamo Rental Agreement. The excess refers to the amount renters are liable for before the basic cover applies and the amount of this excess can vary depending on the type of vehicle, the age of the renter, and a number of other variables. Alamo also offers a collision damage waiver at the desk when you collect your car. A paid add-on, this can reduce your financial liability in the event of you having an accident or your hire car being damaged, however please read their Terms and Conditions to find out what is and isn’t included with their damage waiver. Prosura, available for purchase at the time you book your hire car through VroomVroomVroom, offers comprehensive coverage at a reasonable cost.
Yes. Alamo includes roadside assistance for all mechanical defects not resulting from human error or misuse of the rental vehicle. In the instance of non-mechanical issues, such as, but not restricted to, lost keys, keys locked in the vehicle, or a flat battery due to lights being left on, Alamo may charge you a call-out fee. Alamo offers coverage for more comprehensive roadside assistance as an additional fee-based service.
Most Alamo rental cars come with unlimited kilometres. If a kilometre limit on driving distance does apply to your Alamo hire car, the daily kilometre allowance will be shown on your Rental Agreement. If you drive a distance in excess of this daily allowance, a charge may apply for the additional kilometres.
Alamo expects the rental vehicle to be returned with a full tank of fuel and where this is not possible a refuelling charge will be applicable.
If your hire car rental period is yet to commence, you can modify your booking within the VroomVroomVroom app or by contacting our customer care team to make the required changes. If you have already collected your Alamo rental car, you’ll need to contact the Alamo depot you collected the vehicle from to modify your rental car booking. Bear in mind that any change to the rental period — regardless of if it is before you have collected the car or after — may alter the total cost of your hire car.
